Dave Adhicary, a native of Calcutta / Kolkata,* India - now a U.S. citizen - grew up without television at home, no family outside India as well as no journalist in the family. Yet he has reported across 3 out of 5 U.S. television networks, 1 of top 2 worldwide news channels and 2 of the 3 largest global new agencies on some of the most consequential stories from the frontlines. A former newspaper reporter and magazine editor, he produced an Emmy-nominated documentary.
He was studying toward 2-year BA in English at the University of Calcutta when he became the first ever in his entire family - full of engineers - to get rare opportunity to come and study in the United States. He graduated with liberal arts bachelor's degree in Communication & Media Arts from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Now even so many years later, he's still the only one in family with an American degree.
After learning to drive in Ohio, Dave has driven coast to coast twice: from DC to LA and Seattle to DC. Also, he's driven on California Highway 1 up to Oregon border, down on the Baja California Highway 1 to Ensenada, Mexico, to Vancouver, Canada, on the U.S, Route 1 in Maine and crisscrossed nearly 20 states. He has lived and or worked in 10 states and 4 major power centers: New York City, Washington, San Francisco... and now Los Angeles.
